HOW DOES THE POINT SYSTEM WORK?
Points are counted as 1 point per 1 hour involved. To receive the full point value for each event, you must attend the entire event. No points are ever deducted, just not earned.
Chapter meetings are required, with the exception of 3 absences with valid excuses, per semester. Invalid excuses and no shows result in unexcused absences and requested attendance to a probationary meeting with the chapter officers.
Minimum Point Requirements:
Chapter Meetings:
All candidates and recognized candidates are required to attend all chapter meetings, with 3 excused absences permitted. After a fourth absence (whether excused or not excused), a probationary meeting will occur, and if deemed necessary, a probationary semester will result. Details on probation are outlined below. Exceptions will be made for athletic or academic commitments. An exam the next day is not a valid excuse.

POINT SYSTEM FAQ's
What happens if a member does not meet the requirements?
How do members track points?
Where can members see their requirement progress?
- Probation meeting with officers – Any member that is at risk of probation will have a meeting to ‘plead their case’ with the officers before being put onto probation. This is the member’s chance to discuss why they did not meet the requirements. The Candidate Coordinator will communicate with the member to indicate a probationary discussion is needed. The probation meeting will typically be held during the Executive Committee meeting time.
- Probation – Many honor societies and organizations instill a ‘probationary period’, where in the event of not meeting the requirements for one semester (e.g. Fall 2019), the member will be put on probation. While on probation, if the member fails to meet the requirements in the next semester (e.g. Spring 2019), they will no longer be a part of the organization. Annual dues that have been paid will not be refunded if the requirements are not met during the semester of probation.
- Seniors – In order for a senior member to continue their participation with the organization, Senior’s requirements will be collected early in the semester of their graduation (e.g. spring break, thanksgiving break), at a prorated amount.
How do members track points?
- For all events, it is the member’s responsibility to follow the link on our website to record participation points. In the google survey doc, there will be an option for BAP or non-BAP events.
Where can members see their requirement progress?
- Members will be provided an excel tool for their own convenience to track points. This will not be collected by the officers, the only tracking the officers see is through the google survey.
